Re: Bridge at Derry Lodge

The temporary bridge had been delivered at Easter this year and was installed soon after. From pictures I've seen, I think the permanent replacement is now in position.

In the unlikely event of this disappearing, there is a conveniently fallen tree 200m upstream that will ensure dry feet (this will outlast any bridges)

Re: Bridge at Derry Lodge

I crossed over at Derry Lodge on the new 'temporary' bridge and thought it was magnificent! I have heard that it is constructed from a radio mast - certainly sturdy metal extending across the river with added wooden handrails. Far superior to many a bridge I have used in the past! I have a photo of it, but am not sure how to give you the chance to see it. Email me if you want a copy of it.

Re: Bridge at Derry Lodge

When I saw a picture a while back I thought all the steel work looked very costly & elaborate for a temporary structure - I hadn't realised that an old radio mast had been utilised - thanks for that info, Lindy.

I've found some pics of the bridge on the Walkhighlands site - CLICK HERE
