Re: Public Transport in Scotland

Does anyone know if our temporary Youth hostel association membership is also valid for discount on trains and busses? If so, how to use when booking online?

Thanks and see you all in May!

Marianne

Re: Public Transport in Scotland

Full membership of the SYHA gives a 20% discount on Citylink buses. But you might want to check with the SYHA that this obtains for a temporary card. Their email is info@syha.org.uk

If this is indeed the case then book your ticket through Citylink here and select the number of discount passengers (there's a table of ticket types at top right). You must present your applicable discount card when getting on the bus/coach.

There are no train discounts per se for SYHA members. However, anyone travelling as a party of three or more together on the same train throughout the UK rail network can get a 20% discount from the train company. See here for details

Hi Humphrey,

Thanks for your reply and explanation.

ANYONE KNOW which is the nearest CityLink stop in Glasgow Central.
They give no clues on the citylink site

Completely IGNORE that.
The web site was being an arse.
Buchanan Street.

And it is booked. :-)

Re: Public Transport in Scotland

Hmmm!A bit tricky as Buchanan Street is fully pedestrianised. Best to go to Buchanan Bus Station. For some coaches north you can get on at Anniesland Cross, though it is a bit difficult to sort out the right bus stop.
