Camping East end Loch Rannoch

Any suggestions for a spot to camp just before or around Kinloch Rannoch?

Thanks,
Willem

Re: Camping East end Loch Rannoch

I believe there are designated 'wild' camping spots around the shore, mainly the north shoreline. I think there may be one near the war memorial on the east end. You can find out more with a little googling, I've also used Google Street View to virtually walk along the road and get an idea of where they are, there is certainly one at around NN 533 582. There is also a basic forestry campsite at Carie.
Hope this helps

Re: Camping East end Loch Rannoch

A couple of ears ago I camped at NN 659 580 - just after the layby at the extreme eastern end of the loch and some 800m before the shop. It was a dark and stormy night . . . unlike in the pic below. I pitched just behind the trees.

The Kilvrecht campsite at Carie is operated by The Forestry Commission, and is just under 6km from the village. Take a look at their website for more info

Thank you for the advise.
Together with a closer look on Maps, Google etc. this will not be a problem.

Re: Camping East end Loch Rannoch

I camped this year by the lochside, approximately 1km west of the turn off to the campsite at Carie. I'm not sure exactly where it was so can't quote GR but it is a fairly obvious spot amongst the trees.

There's a photo on my blog
