Routebuddy users beware!

I just upgraded my Mac to the latest release of the operating system (10.11 El Capitan). I started Routebuddy and although it looked OK on startup, it did some very strange things and ended up completely crashing my computer.

The Software Update menu does not seem to make a connection with the Routebuddy server so it doesn't look like there's a new compatible version at the moment.

Routebuddy has not been updated for a while so I don't know if it's still being developed so it may be time to move on to one of the alternatives.

Re: Routebuddy users beware!

Ian,

RouteBuddy on Mac OS X El Capitan
RouteBuddy has been tested on all beta versions of Mac OS X El Capitan, as well as the latest release that Apple delivered to the public yesterday; RouteBuddy for desktop loads (as a fresh copy) and works as expected. RouteBuddy also starts up and works as expected when a Mac has been upgraded to El Capitan with RouteBuddy already installed.

We need to get to the bottom of your problem, so we suggest, to start with, you send us your database in a zipped file.

Software update
- We are currently moving our store and software links to a new server; my apologies but you can always download a fresh copy of RouteBuddy from our website. RouteBuddy is still being developed, along with all of our other apps and new maps.

Re: Routebuddy users beware!

Hi Ian, Neil,
I know you guys will sort the problem out, but could you advise on message board of outcome, Neil I take your comments on board but will hold off upgrading whilst route planning is being fine tuned.
Thanks
Byron

Re: Routebuddy users beware!

I too have upgraded to El Capitan OSX 10.11 but I've had no problems with Routebuddy. Every thing is working as it should and my possible route for next year has been planned using it.

Re: Routebuddy users beware!

Hi Ian.... I've upgraded also. Just tried Routebuddy and it seems OK for me.

Bernie,

Re: Routebuddy users - tests!

Hi all,

Just to let you know we are running more tests and will give feedback on any issues we find this week. :)

Best,

Neil

Re: Routebuddy users FEEDBACK REPORT!

Hi,

We have completed more tests with RouteBuddy running in El Capitan and have come across one bug.

This bug replicates a previous bug we once found when Apple introduced Full Screen display in Mac OS X about three or four years ago.

The current issue only happens when a user selects split screen display in El Capitan and then drags downwards on the RouteBuddy tool bar; this sometimes offers a partial black screen or full black screen.

The way to exit from this issue is to click the green Full Screen Button.

The issue has been noted and placed on the ToDo work list for RouteBuddy desktop software. Currently, due to other requests made of us for software/maps we can not say what the timeline is for dealing with a relatively minor issue.

Other than this RouteBuddy works as expected on Mac OS X El Capitan and we advise users not to open RouteBuddy in split-screen view. It is easy enough just to place two items side-by-side on the desktop should you wish.

Feel free to contact us at support@routebuddy.com should there be any other queries; mainly because we may miss your posting on a message board and can also offer a faster response.

Re: Routebuddy users FEEDBACK REPORT!

This is exactly what happened to me but exiting from the split screen mode did not solve the problem. Instead, the program went into an unstable state and reverted after a couple of operations to a black screen.

I hope this can be fixed soon as the split screen mode with a satellite view on screen with the map is incredibly useful.
