The Brownmuir camp site, midway between Auchanblae and Fordoun has closed following the death of Melvyn Bowers last year, however if you knock on the cottage door June Bowers will still allow you to camp there and provide water but there are no other facilities. Just mention the Challenge and you'll be welcome.

Thanks for that sad news. I was planning to stay there for my last night before heading down to Johnshaven and need to reflect whether to stick with my plan or rework things a bit. Looks like we're losing too many campsites for a variety of reasons.
