Re: Acharacle start camp?

When I started at Acharacle in 2011 (marking the 25th anniversary of my love affair with the Highlands of Scotland, which began at Acharacle at Easter 1986) I walked out to the Singing Sands to camp.

There are som ereally wonderful pitches there, and I recommend them (as long as you don't get scared by warnings of the posisbility of unexploded ordnance on the beach left over from the 1939-1945 war!)

It will take you a couple of hours to walk back into Acharacle past Kentra Bay - but that is a pleasant walk in itself.

Re: Acharacle start camp?

A little off topic, but Jeremy's mention of the "Singing Sands" reminds me of a classic "golden age" crime novel - "The Singing Sands" by Josephine Tey. Great bedtime reading for any challenger on the sleeper to Inverness!

Re: Acharacle start camp?

I'm pretty sure that some Challengers camped behind the hotel the year I started there.
