Re: Rail connection at Inverness

Ray, The Culloden battlefield Visitor Centre was badly damaged in the January storms. It will be worth checking with National Trust Scotland nearer the time on whether all facilities are open.

Re: Rail connection at Inverness

John

I spoke to the Inverness Tourist Office on Sunday to clarify bus times to the battle site and they made no mention of any problems.

However I will check again

Thanks

Ray

P.S. It wasn't those Border Reivers or the ghost of Stinking Billie that caused the damage was it?

Re: Rail connection at Inverness

John

Have spoken directly to the Culloden Visitor Centre and there was some roof damage during the January storms which has now been repaired.

The Centre is fully open apart from a current restriction on walking on the glass roof (?)

They advise that the Centre should be back to full working order by May

Re: Rail connection at Inverness

If in doubt we usually blame the Campbells. The name comes from "crooked mouth"; with a clan history of picking the winning side and resort to law rather than unprovoked violence, both concepts rather unusual in Scotland.

The storm ripped off large sections of the roof and endangered the historic artefacts inside. Hard to implicate the Campbells but we will try.

Re: Rail connection at Inverness

Ah yes ... th egood old Campbell v MaccyD feud.

Well, I may just be a Sassenach, but spaking personally, I favour soup over burgers any day.

Re: Rail connection at Inverness

Talking of unprovoked violence I thought people from the Highlands were advised never to accept or offer hospitality to the Campbells !
