Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Hello Melanie! It's good to hear from you and wonderful that you will be able to continue supporting the Challenge. I met Val and some of the family when I stayed in 2011, she was incredibly kind and hospitable.
The Challenge starts on Friday 8th through to Friday 22nd May this year, so there will probably be a steady flow from Saturday to Wednesday that first week.
I won't be passing by this year, but I'm sure many will and your kindness will be greatlt appreciated.
Thank you and best wishes to the family.

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Good to hear you are carrying on the hopitality at Cougie.
I have fond memories of times spent there, and long may the
tradition continue.

Regards Norm,Reeves

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Great that you are continuing the miracle & marvel of Cougie.
I have been there several times and it has always been an Oasis of joy.
I spent a most entertaining evening one year chatting to Brian.
Very sorry to hear Val has passed on.
She was always a beacon of light, happiness and enthusiasm whenever we met.

I'm am hoping to be there at some point this year, no idea when.
Certainly going to be popping in.
Might even be trying to blag a bunk.
Much will depend on the weather and the route I end up doing.

So may fond memories.

This was back in 2006

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Andrew,

What kind words and such a lovely photo of my Granny and Pops - thank you (this brought a tear to my eye!).

My Dad, Brian, still stays at Cougie and will obviously be there for the duration. We do hope you will pop in at some point :)

Thanks again - I'm going to have to copy that photo now!

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Melanie. Nice to hear you are keeping up the Cougie tradition, that is, helping
wandering waifs and strays. I've spent many happy times at Cougie chatting to
Grandma and Grandad both on and off Challenge events.Lovely memories and
stories to tell. Cheers.

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Helping wandering waifs and strays is certainly a Cougie tradition - and not just for the Challenge!

So lovely to hear such nice memories from everyone!

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Melanie -

This is such wonderful news.

In 9 crossings I had never yet made it to Cougie, but it was right up there at the top of my "to do" list when I heard about Val. I therefore planned a route for this year which doesn't pass your way; but if the 2015 experience doesn't put you off, I shall certainly be heading your way at some point on a future crossing.

Re: Accommodation at Cougie

Hello all!

Just a quick message to wish you all the best of luck for next weekend and to say that we still have lots of accommodation in the annex at Cougie.

Just let me know if you plan on stopping with us so we can prepare :)

Many thanks,
Melanie
