Accommodation in Dalwhinnie

So my route has been accepted and I'm in the process of booking accommodation in Dalwhinnie and to my surprise I have found only one and thats booked. Can any one advice of some accommodation here or is it best to goto Newtonmore?

Re: Accommodation in Dalwhinnie

If you,re prepared to walk abit further you can,t go wrong at the crubenbeg house b&b about 3 miles from dalwhinnie .

Re: Accommodation in Dalwhinnie

The Dalwhinnie hostel is a good place to stay and they serve great food in the attached cafe (with lounge area and tv) we greatly enjoyed our stay there in 2013. The owners bent over backwards to be helpful to everyone and we would gladly go there again. People also camped on a small grassy area over the road.
PS we've also received superb hospitality from Newtonmore Hostel when we passed through in 2012!!!

Re: Accommodation in Dalwhinnie

Don't tell anyone I told you, but the waiting room at Dalwhinnie Station also looks like a good place to kip down for the night.

Very weather proof ...

Re: Accommodation in Dalwhinnie

Hi Mark
Ron and Marilyn are huge supporters of the Challenge and have for many years gone that extra mile to make sure everyone is happy. That' probably why they have boked up so quickly. We popped into see them last week and Ron confirmed that he will again be arranging camping in a nearby field for those who can't get a place in the hostel. THe formerly Dalwhinnie Hotel is being renovated and will revert to it's former name of the Loch Ericht Hotel. The bar will be open by may but the owner is not sure when the rooms will be ready.
