sleeper tickets

For all the other southern softy Challengers travelling up from London way, the overnight Sleeper bookings have been released early this year, and it seems that you can now book up to a year in advance. I've booked mine. Other daytime train tickets are yet to be released.

By Challenge time the sleeper service will have been taken over by Serco (doesn't bode well), and there is a link to the new Serco booking site on the usual Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper site.

So, in the words of the late great Fred Pontin, "book early"

Re: sleeper tickets

Or as the Tammany Hall folks in Chicago would say - "Vote early, and vote often . . . "

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks for that I wouldn't have started checking till March!

Re: sleeper tickets

Jeff

Thanks for the advice, have booked my ticket for May 6th., Euston to Inverness

Hopefully SERCO will not be carrying over experience from their Court Escorting and Custody Services otherwise it could make the journey interesting.

Will you be in the Bree Louise again this year?

Regards

Ray

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks for the 'heads up' Jeff. Ticket booked, Preston to Fort Bill, though I nearly booked for a day too soon as us northerners board the next day to you Bree Louises! Good price too.
It feels as though the Challenge has almost started.

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks Jeff.

Ticket booked.

Bree Louise here we come ................

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks. Booked

Re: sleeper tickets

HI

Can someone send me a link to the appropriate site. The 2 I tried to use don't seem to work here.

Thanks

William

Re: sleeper tickets

Many thanks, Jeff!

We're all aboard the Marrakesh Inverness Express! The way to the correct booking site is not obvious, so for anyone temporarily confused (like I was) just CLICK HERE

Re: sleeper tickets

Your a sweet chap Phil and thanks to that link we are all booked for Fort William.

Re: sleeper tickets

You are a fine chap Phil, and thanks for booking my ticket sir.
Althiugh I can see there are already some dodgy types on thge Inverness train, and the Bree could be a den. Al and I must keep off the nicorettes this year

Re: sleeper tickets

All booked. Ready to go!

Thanks, William

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks Jeff
I'm booked on too. Leaving before 10.00am arriving Fort Bill 12 hours later.
Hoping this may be early enogh to avoid having Sloman's henchmen holding me down whilst he pours fine ales down me throat.

There's another 16 days after that sir.
Mind you, the Fife is shut as well.
Still Tarfside & NWB though.

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks to Phil for publishing the link and to Jeff for highlighting that the sleeper tickets are now available.

I've just booked my very first sleeper berth.

Don't look out for me, though. I'm travelling on Thursday night and I expect the rest of you will have already gone North by the time I get on the train.

Re: sleeper tickets

We will indeed be on Wed night frequenting the Bree Louise.
One year Judith you are actually going to manage a proper Fri start

Eugh! Sounds awful. All those friendly people offering to walk with me? No thanks. I'm already a bit worried that, after ticking off Dornie this year and Kilchoan next time, I'm going to have to start from Mallaig, Oban or Shiel Bridge along with 50% of the field. Maybe I'll try a Sunday start from now on?

Re: sleeper tickets

Judith, you will not be alone on Thursday night as Rosie and I always start 'late' as well. We look forward to meeting you, especially after reading your spiffing blog!

Re: sleeper tickets

Thanks Dickie. I look forward to meeting you both. I'm joining at Crewe, so don't let them close the bar til I'm onboard!

Re: sleeper tickets

Well done Jeff I too have booked a berth on said train. Bree Louise obviously means something? We could in theory jiggle it so that challengers were 'together' on the train. I am M 09L

Consider it jiggled. We (that is me, Alan, Andrew & Richard) are next door to you Mick - coach M 08U, 07L, 06U, 05L.

Re: sleeper tickets

So good of the rail company to allocate the lower bunks to the more decrepit specimens.

Re: sleeper tickets

"So good of the rail company to allocate the lower bunks to the more decrepit specimens." Scotrail probably realised they would not be carrying ice axe & crampons and such a steep slippery ascent could lead to a nasty accident. Rappelling off in the morning without a rope could be dodgy too!

Re: sleeper tickets

I don't think it's a question of getting out of an upper bank in the morning.........

It's more of a problem of trying to get into an upper bunk after a few hours in the lounge car !!!!

It does indeed Mick

Bree Louise

Meet up from about 6:30pm onwards. The Challenge party starts here!

Re: sleeper tickets

Sounds good to me, feel the excitement grow.
Not sure who that Donohoe is but he'll get the sharp edge of my tongue, cheeky blighter.

Jesus Christ Man.

If you get there at 6.30 I will need to bring industrial strength nicorettes to get you to Euston.

Ah yes. The nicorettes - defibrillator pills for the comatose Challenger.

It's the 9:15pm sleeper, Andrew (not the midnight train) which means we leave the Bree at 8:30 in order to get seats in the buffet carriage.

Re: sleeper tickets

Croydon-derived from crocus so a lovely name for a girl. Apparently her Old Man was a recycling operative with somewhat regressive attitudes to customer service and a history of unprovoked violence.

Re: sleeper tickets

This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath,
May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet

Re: sleeper tickets

Not if I see you first!

Re: sleeper tickets

I'm for Inverness on Wednesday night, too.

Still need the onward ticket to Kyle of Lochalsh, though ...

Are you sure Serco will allow mixed-class socialising? Or will they enforce strict class segregation?

Re: sleeper tickets

I'm sure Alan will deign to talk to you.
