Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

Hi David

You'll find all the details of the ferries across Loch Ness in the 2014 "Final Details." If you have mislaid your copy, let me know and I'll scan mine and email it to you.

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

Thank you Alan. I should have thought of that myself! I have also had helpful e-mail replies from Pete Goddard and Ali and Sue. I was hoping there might be a crossing in the middle of the day but as there isn't I shall work around the early morning or late afternoon slots.

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

For anyone planning this crossing, do remember that Temple Pier lies about 1.5 miles from the centre of Drum (Fiddlers/car park area) and 2.5 miles from the Borlum camp site. It can be a bit of a dash in the morning if you get up late ... like me.

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

When I stayed at Borlum campsite in 2007, Gordon insisted on picking me up from the Castle jetty, just a short stroll from the campsite.

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

There used to be a problem being picked up from the castle jetty. At one time you could be charged entry to the castle grounds, this may be no longer correct but it would be best to check this before making such arrangements.

David

On peak days the first departure which goes at 08:00 is usually fully booked.

Gordon promises to get everybody across so often runs a second trip at about 09:00 / 09:30 which may help.

Contact Gordon a month or so before hand and he will let you know the situation

Ray

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

Hi Dave,
You may like to consider getting the late ferry and walking the 1/2hr to Ault Na Goire at grid ref. NH5428 2297. You can camp here and also book an evening meal and breakfast if you wish or just eat what you have. The choice is yours. The Sutherlands are fantastic Mein Hosts and look after challengers very well indeed.

Re: Ferry Across Loch Ness

Totally agree with Alan - an evening at Ault na Goire is not to be missed.
