Hanwax

For those of you who picked up a bottle of the freebie Hanwax stuff at the end of the challenge, but don't speak german, I got my friends to translate the instructions for us all.

How to use it:

1. Clean shoes properly, if necessary with a wet sponge. Let the leather dry at room temperature.
2. Shake the bottle before use and apply Hanwax to the whole shoe.
3. After that buff the shoes either with a soft cloth or brush.

It can be used for shoes with membranes (no idea what this means, goretex maybe??). It is for the care and protection against water for shoes made of Nubuk and top-grain leather (also: split leather).

So sounds very similar to the Nikwax waterproofing for boots stuff

Re: Hanwax

I got a jar of the beeswax. No instructions, but self evident. I used my fingers to rub it into my (Scotland) boots. I nearly forgot what I was doing and ate them. My boots smell gorgeous and it's soft on your hands.

Off to try them out on the Welsh "Furth Munros" in 4 weeks time.

Hope everyone's enjoying the summer.
