As a solo first timer and a Scot living in the Borders I was often asked why am I doing the TGOC when I could go out any weekend from home. Well one reason was to see my home country from a different perspective and another was as my kids said to me on my birthday in April "dad you are now half way to 100" mmmm.

What I didn't expect was meeting such wonderful people and making so many new friends along the way. It became clear from very early on that if I wasn't careful I could drink my way across such was the hospitality & kindness of everyone I met and yes carrying a hip flask was a great idea.

So a big thanks to everyone from Challenge control and all at Tarfside and the vetters etc etc and a big hello to everyone I met along the way.
