Re: Starting pack weight

I won't be carrying any water though I will be carrying a little excess weight. I;ll also be eating local for the next two and a half weeks.

Re: Starting pack weight

BRING THE HIP FLASK!!!
It's a social event don't ya know!

Re: Starting pack weight

It was a tough call but the hip flask won and who needs water anyway after all whisky is the water of life especially if it's a good malt.

Re: Starting pack weight

Ian,

Do you mean a real 'hip flask'? If so, and your counting grams - I would use a plastic lucozade bottle (minus label to save weight) - weighs nothing and very robust.

Re: Starting pack weight

I like your thinking Bernie but If I fancy a wee dram in the middle of the night I don't want to get confused with another bottle I might have nearby if you get my drift.

Last wee bits to sort out before catching the train in the morning Ahhh.

Re: Starting pack weight

Despite swapping various items for lighter variants this year, it's still 14 kg including 4 days food, poles, gaiters, tomorrow's lunch, and a generous hip flask! (I'll pick up the stuff for Alan's cheese and wine from my squirrelled stash in the woods near Aberchalder)

Good luck to everyone and no doubt I'll meet some of you on the way.
