Re: Midge Head Net

I think...
There are midgies and they may well be biting. I'm taking head net and repellent! For just a few grammes? Yes.

Re: Midge Head Net

I'm surprised that Colin has not swung in here with a Triffic Tock Tip. You can save weight by drilling holes in most of your kit. I'd start with the midge net.

Re: Midge Head Net

Love it, John. Sorry I won't be at Tarfside this year.

There were reports of midges in Argyll by Billymaca on the Tick bites thread on May 4th, so I've packed mine. (just the headnet, not the full jacket). Skin so soft is lurking by the pack, undecided.

JD,

I trust you are taking this Message Board seriously, aren't you?

Re: Midge Head Net

I don't expect to have to use mine, however,I justify it's carriage because it fits my "more than one purpose" criteria.
I've always found trouble with my pillow moving around when trying to sleep, not now!
I slip the midge net over the end of my neoair and put my air pillow wrapped in fleece inside, tightening up the drawstring keeps everything in place regardless of how restless I am in the night.

Re: Midge Head Net

I've packed my headnet and jungle formula.

Re: Midge Head Net

Robert Ridgwell
Desperately looking to shave weight, I am wondering about whether I need one? Although I missed last year, I don't remember using one on the previous three - what do you think?

Take one Robert.
They weigh very little compared to the irritation.

Re: Midge Head Net

I've carried one faithfully ten times and never used it. So I'm leaving it behind.......which is sure to bring on the midges

Re: Midge Head Net

Having lived in Tighnabruaich until a few years ago a midge net is a must along with repellent preferably skin-so-soft. The only real alternative is to find a windy spot or near smoke.
