random fings

A couple of things, I've tried the new Robinson's squash'd which for the uninitiated is a very concentrated fruit squash which comes in a very packable small container and can make up to 20 drinks.
I found it to be tasty and it will make a change from basic water .

For those who like their music double denim style, the world famous Status Quo are the headline act at the music festival which is on at TGO time in Montrose. I believe the tickets are sold out, but there may well be some spares available at the time.

Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, there is an amateur weatherman who goes by the name Windy Wilson, he has a Facebook page and also on twitter @windywilson88 . He's proved to be more accurate than the regular forecasters and frequently is well ahead of the curve on long range trends.
He has this to say today : MINI HEATWAVE (as tweeted yesterday) - Sunny Boy says UK set to bask in glorious sunshine from Thursday 8th May until Monday 12th May !!!!!

Here's hoping..
Rod

Re: random fings

Sounds good, but is he based in Scotland? To some people the UK means south of the border (even before September).

Re: random fings

He is indeed based in Scotland, auchterarder near gleneagles to be accurate. He also has a certain forthright style which doesn't appeal to everyone, but he does seem to know his stuff.

Re: random fings

Good stuff the Concentrate.
Tesco do one called ONE Splash

They do Lemon & Lime, Blackcurrent and also Orange & Pinapple & it is 40p cheaper than the Robinson's one (or was)

Now, about this heatwave??

A nice start for once would be good.
2008 was the last really decent start and I didn't get on that year.

Re: random fings

'08 was my first crossing and I was lulled into a false sense of security. Geared up for all kinds weather and sent nearly everything back home on the second day!!! Shorts and t-shirt all the way across. It went downhill after that. Oh hum.

Good luck everyone.

Re: random fings

I had never heard of the Challenge till 08, which rates with 1976 in my memory of glorious summers. The BBC made a film about the Challenge for the Adventure Show, which we always watch and we thought "that looks fun". It was sunny, people were relaxed and happy. Didn't see a single gritted tooth.

I have thought about how much fun it looked a number of times since: on the E side of Ben Resipol in the snow on night 1 in 2009; heading along THAT road to North Water Bridge with trees falling all about me on Windy Monday in 2011; crossing Eskadale on Stormy Sunday in 2012.

I was lured in under false pretences and now I find I can't escape.

Re: random fings

I was lured by the very same show. Still have it on recorded. Absolutely hooked, line and sunk.
Wouldn't miss it!!

Re: random fings

Me and Jim starred in that there Adventure Show. The production dudes made us walk backwards and forwards through a forest we weren't passing through near Kingussie to get the shot right - don't believe what you see!

But yes, the weather was magnificent. Waterproofs were most used as a pillow and used just once in anger on a late walk out of the Cairngorms to White Bridge. The usual warnings about crossing the Kingie near Kinbreack were comical as we couldn't actually find the Kingie!
