Re: Where to eat in Drumnadrochit and Ballater

After looking at the prices of the main courses in the Fiddlers in Drum, is there a chip shop?

Re: Where to eat in Drumnadrochit and Ballater

...Which is why I go to the Coffee Shop...
It's a village that survives on tourists, so plenty to choose from.
And there's always google. If a search doesn't help, 'walk' up the road on google maps and have a look.

Re: Where to eat in Drumnadrochit and Ballater

The chippy in Drum used to be a little out of town next to the grocers and general store, on the way in if you come down from the forest. A look on the Drum web page may find if it is still open.
For an evening meal in Ballater the Alexandra Hotel is hard to beat.

Re: Where to eat in Drumnadrochit and Ballater

Ballater golf club does fantastic scoff at a very good price, i think its only open to 2000 though (from 0800). The indian is very decent to, the Balmoral does proper wholesome bar food, the Alex is a bit dear for what you get imo.

Best Ballater night out - from the chipper, mock chop supper with a mealie pudding on the side and two pickled eggs while sitting in the square, then into the barrel for half a dozen pints of guiness. (Mind and leave the bivi doors open though)

Re: Where to eat in Drumnadrochit and Ballater

Thanks for suggestions.

Anyone tried either of the Indian restaurants in Ballater - India on the Green or the Lochnagar Brasserie? (The latter claims to be "one of the best Indian restaurants in Ballater" so must be good!)
