Bridge in Strathfarrer

I have read in previous accounts of the bridge in Glen Strathfarrer being locked (presumably at NH211386) and folks diverting round by the dam. Does anyone know if it is still locked?

If it is, is it climbable or is it best to go the circular route?

Ian

Re: Bridge in Strathfarrer

I seem to think the bridge you're referring to is at NH 230 387. I also seem to remember it's not only locked but a tad unsafe! I certainly took the dam road. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2450890
Hope that helps!

Re: Bridge in Strathfarrer

I agree with Louise. My vetter told me to go by the dam route and, of course, I obeyed!

Re: Bridge in Strathfarrer

Hi Ian
The problem bridge is at Inchvuilt NH 230 387. When I came through last year it was no longer locked - it just wasn't there! Looked like the estate had taken it down as only the parapets and a neat pile of wood remained. Luckily I had opted to walk round the dams. The ford just upstream has a concrete base and a non Challenger I had walked with got over it safely but I wouldn't of fancied it and it would be impossible in spate.

Many thanks - looks like the circular route is the best option
