As we are all putting together our kit for this years Challenge,it's easy to overlook some personal essential items,so here are a few I deem "essential".Vaseline,remember those times when the chafing got so bad you were raw and bleeding?,apply every morning before you leave the confines of your tent,I have tried E45,ChapStick,
And have witnessed the application of UdderCream by Pete Hurst & Simon the shepherd,a sight not for the faint hearted.
Prescribed medication,do not forget and carry a few days extra.
Spectacles,carry a spare pair.
Gehwol Footcream,a revelation,combined with sorbothane footbeds has made backpacking a whole new experience.
Wet wipes,easier than Dr Bronners you can also get them in an assortment, antiseptic,insect bite etc.
They burn easily for disposal.
Sunblock,you'll be surprised how much sun does actually shine!
A decent water scoop/bucket so one trip to the water source will get you enough for the evening and morning.Nothing worse than trying to fill a bottle or pouch when its tipping down and you're freezing your nuts off.
Whiskey,you will be astonished by all the attention you get in bothies,even in the remotest camp spot they can sniff it out from miles away,only the finest malts will travel well.
Ear plugs,for bothies or noisy campsites.
I hope this will give you all a reminder of your own essentials.

Last years udder cream worked great! This year I take Siopel Creme. It's a barrier creme we use onboard the oilrig. Not fat and less messy.
