The Local and European elections take place on the 22nd May whilst most of us are still heading for the east coast. If you are keen and want to cast your vote then you will have to apply to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf. This also applies if you have a postal vote as these are unlikely to be sent out until after we have started the Challenge. Arrangements vary from Authority to Authority by the odd day or so but as a general rule postal votes are likely to be sent out on the 10th May and the final day for applications for a proxy vote is round about the 14th May. All after we’ve started, so you need to be in touch with your local authority fairly soon if you want to participate in these elections.

In Scotland we only have elections to the European Parliament on May 22 2014 - ie no local elections.
