Re: River Cannich - advice please?

Hi Jean,

Not been there, but this photo from Geograph shows the weir quite well.

It is actually at NH253325 - your GR is for the LRT ford.

Still on SB myself, but getting there

Re: River Cannich - advice please?

Oops - thanks Phil, doesn't look too promising, does it? Perhaps not even wade-able. Seems the LRT on each side goes to, but not over, the weir. Ah well, bit of a diversion needed, or perhaps a rehash of route.

I'd forgotten about the very useful geograph site, thanks for reminding me.

Jean

This same question was asked by John J on January 4th .

I think the consensus was that there is no bridge over the river at that point, only the weir which would be very difficult to cross.

You can check all the message an d replies by searching "Cannich"

Re: River Cannich - advice please?

Thank you, Ray. That's very interesting - I did search the message board for "River Cannich", and got only one entry from January 2012, referring to terrain north of it. (Also useful, in fact).

I've now read all the thread you refer to, and have also checked Geograph. I see there was one map mentioned which suggested a ford over the river - but the famous JD cautions that the water level is very variable.

Seems it might be worth a quick look but I'll need a Plan B.

[John J - where are you coming from to there? Sadly can't walk on with you, I'm heading south.]
