Camping in woods south of Loch Loyne

Hi,

Can anyone recommend any good camp spots in the woods to the south of Loch Loyne (and NE of Tomdoun)?

I plan to traverse the Munros of Gleouraich and Spidean Mialach before continuing east along the ridge to Druim na h-Achlaise and descending by the path that enters the woods at NH 153 037. Then I'm planning on ascending Meall Dubh the following day from the A87 at around NH 186 045. So camping in those woods would fit well with my route if possible.

Any info gratefully received. Thanks

Re: Camping in woods south of Loch Loyne

Hi Alistair

We're going that way as well. We're stopping a little further on halfway up the hill in Coire nam Brach at about NH216061, where there appears to be a nice grassy spot. Then, the following day (Monday) we'll be heading up over the Corbett - a last chance to see it before it is surrounded by turbines.

I had a look at stopping in the woods before the A87, but Bing Aerial view didn't look too promising.

(By the way - when I said "We're going that way as well" I didn't mean we were flogging over the two bigguns, but we are going over Druim na h-Achlaise; We've not gone completely mad...)

There may well be some whisky & sloe gin left if you catch us up.

Obviously we will expect you to bring the big rucksack with cheese and wine and firewood.

Never too late to change your route, Alistair!

Re: Camping in woods south of Loch Loyne

Alistair I would stay well clear of the three above reprobates
they will lead you astray cheers guys

Re: Camping in woods south of Loch Loyne

Thanks for the warning Keith. I'll make sure I pitch my tent a good distance away from the three of them! ;)

AS IF!

Re: Camping in woods south of Loch Loyne

Thanks for the info Alan.

I also didn't think the woods before the A87 looked particularly promising on aerial photos and from what I could find on Geograph.

Therefore if you don't mind, I think I'll come and join you in Coire nam Brach that evening - I can see the grassy spot you referred to.

Andrew, I'll bring the big rucksack of cheese, wine and firewood if you can arrange for there to be a bothy in Coire nam Brach that evening! ;)
