Over the years there has been an ongoing problem with denial of access to the hills by the North Chesthill Estate in Glen Lyon, in "Challenge territory."

In an attempt to sort this out, the Mountaineering Council of Scotland has written to the local MSP, John Swinney, and now is conducting an on-line survey to gauge the extent of the problem and give the MCofS ammunition for any future action.

Done it already, Alan, MCofS sent an email out to members.

I still think the problem lies in giving LAs enforcement power when they won't use it, partly because it costs money and landowners are likely to defend vigorously.
