Re: Crossing the R Cannich

JJ,

G'day and a v. Happy New Year.

I seem to recall checking this out several years ago and finding there was no bridge there- I honestly can't remember the status of the nearby weir (age related problem!!).

Re: Crossing the R Cannich

Hi Colin,

Thanks for getting back - you're the Challenge Bridge expert so I was rather hoping you'd respond!

It's no big deal if the bridge isn't there, the road on the N side of the river is the alternative - I just don't like tarmac.

Happy New Year to you, I look forward to catching up with you in May for a chat and a pint or three.

Re: Crossing the R Cannich

No pictures of that spot on Geograph (or goggles) but their map states it's a ford. Wet feet unavoidable I suppose.

I don't remember owt John.
Just did the road from the Loch.
Best be rollin' up thee trooser legs lad!

Re: Crossing the R Cannich

Thanks Andrew - I was just hoping to avoid trench-foot. Or tarmac-pounding induced footache.

Re: Crossing the R Cannich

I don't think there ever was a bridge here. Because there is a dam control on water levels in the river it can rise and fall at short notice. If low you can get across the weir. If not, embrace the tarmac thrill.

Re: Crossing the R Cannich

Thanks Theo, I suppose I'll just end up using the tarmac if the bridge isn't there.

Ho hum.
