Pait Lodge route alternative

While on a tromp in the NW the Attadale Estate stalker Tom Watson pointed out a route alternative to Pait Lodge, avoiding the 3km trackless bog trot, that some may find useful.
At the end of the track from Loch Calavie follow the Allt Coire a’Charra down to the outlet of Loch an Tachdaidh (NH 097381), easy going. In low water there’s stepping stones across to the a LRT on the southern shore that leads to Pait Lodge (or back towards Maol-bhuidhe bothy etc); when I visited to water was too high for a dry shod crossing.
Also there’s a very good camping spot close by at around NH 097384.

Re: Pait Lodge route alternative

I've looked longingly at the LRT there twice now and thought that it must be possible to cross the outflow. Id certainly think it's worth a serious look…

Some good stuff on your blog, Paul. Enjoyed reading Challenge and Cape Wrath accounts

Might have planned a slightly different route with this info but the die has been cast
