Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

I was with Al and we saw the same signs.
So there is camping

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

Take the minor/quieter road on the south side of the Loch
and you will be spoilt for choice.

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

I walked the length of the north side of Loch Rannoch during the Challenge this year and there were plenty of places to camp by the loch side - with 'campers welcome' signs too. None after Kinloch Rannoch though.

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

Wild camping is covered by the same access legislation as walking and cycling ie not on someone's front lawn and done responsibly, so ok just about anywhere. Except for golf courses and bits of Loch Lomond shores, sadly; there could be some cracking campspots at that Gleneagles.

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

Following on from previous suggestion S. side of Loch.If you are heading
through to Pitlochry via. Shiehallion .(IMO)much better than the B8019
Tummel Bridge route. There are many good pitches, Lochan an Nam, Brae
O Foss NN752557. Glengoulandie or Loch Derdculich NN864546 to name a few.
If you still prefer the N side peel off the B8019 at the hotel on the L
of the road at NN819601.A nice track/FP past Loch Lochan Leathain (pitch)
and a lovely route down to Blair Atholl via Tomanraid. Cheers.

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

I'm still in awe of the wealth of knowledge, and advice that comes from folk on the Message Board.

Many thanks for the suggestions and comments.

Both Keith and Carl have suggested the memorial area. This seems a good idea to me. It's near to a source of liquid refreshments!

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

I take it you are referring to the café "Treats"", Gordon?

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

Well, of course, John.

What else?

Re: Camping spot in Kinloch Rannoch

If you've half a million spare you could re-open the Dunalastair Hotel and serve yourself a pint, I suppose?
