The Over The Hill Club

I've come back from The Over The Hill Club AGM this weekend. It was held in Dufton. The Club is affiliated to the BMC.

For folk new to the Challenge, and for those who like to enjoy the company of like minded hillwalking folk, I can fully commend this club.

It is NOT for folk who are past it!

It was founded off the back of the TGO for folk to meet up other than during the TGOC. And, there are folk who have a wealth of hillwalking/mountaineeering experience.

Meets are held around the UK and abroad.

I only joined last year, but, I have been to a couple of great meets as well as the AGM.

To get a flavour of the Club, and, if you are interested in joining, go to www.othc.org.uk.

Re: The Over The Hill Club

Thanks for this info, Gordon. I see they are in my neck of the woods over New Year, so will see if I can make contact about that.

Re: The Over The Hill Club

Hi Vanessa as Chairman of the club, I would be delighted to see you at our meet, we are at the Lodge at Glencanisp close to Lochinvar, and if you choose your timing right we may even get John Donohue to part with some of his precious Ardbeg, mind you that's clutching at straws, anyway you are welcome to visit and guaranteed a warm welcome.

Re: The Over The Hill Club

Thanks, Bernie. I've been in touch with John and invited you to tea, but he can bring the Ardbeg!
Hope the weather is kind to you. Snow here today!

Re: The Over The Hill Club

I am thinking of joining the "What's a hill?" club.

It's a Fen joke that.

Re: The Over The Hill Club

If I remember rightly, Andrew, someone was proposed for Membership and seconded by you (or, vice - versa).

BUT, you are not even a Member!

You could be tho - get you away from those Fenland Hills more often.

Just saying.

Re: The Over The Hill Club

I could of course join the Pidley Mountain Rescue.
Look it up.
It does exist.
