Re: Trip Report: Ardrishaig to Auchmithie

A hugely enjoyable account! A Curious Route, an Elequent Narrative, a Great and Mighty Humour. What's not to like! And to post your account as we roll amongst the August doldrums. Good for you, sister. Peace to you and hope to meet you next year, should the draw go in our favour! And if not, no harm .. ..

Re: Trip Report: Ardrishaig to Auchmithie

Thanks Humphrey. The best way to ensure maximum readership is to post in
August. However, that was not a cynical ploy - I'm just a slow blogger.

Now, to plan my next crossing...... Dornie or Morar?

Re: Trip Report: Ardrishaig to Auchmithie

Reading your report was great - took me away from my desk and sent me a breath of (very) fresh air. I too ended up wearing waterproofs, as well as gloves and hat to keep out the wind on my last morning, even though it had dried up then!

Not sure I agree with you about peat hags though. They became my pet hate, especially in the hills that shall remain nameless....

And I haven't finished writing my report up yet either. Must get that done before the entry forms for next year are available. (How is that for a deadline for me?)

I enjoyed Dornie as a start. A nice village and the hotel was OK. The walk out along the loch was a nice way to start.

Good stuff.

Dornie or Morar?

I would do Morar, the ridge walk is brilliant,
but you do need good weather.
