I have just checked the Base Weight of my Rucksack.
For all you UL people especially, it is 1.1kg 
Obviously this is the rucksack with NOTHING init.
That is the true meaning of base weight isn't it?
I mean, once you put stuff in it, that is stuff you carry.
See, that's the CARRYING WEIGHT init.......... 
Or have I got this all wrong? 
Anyway, I will be the bloke with the big overfilled rucksack with all the stuff I am taking.
Do not ask me what it weighs, because I will NOT know, since I will NOT have weighed it.
BUT.. feel free to pick it up wince and then cry with laughter.
It's just what I always take.....OK....
Might be why my knees are buggered.
Have a good crossing, and don't forget the wet suit and snorkel for the first 3 to 4 days. 
you are a very brave man not weighing your rucksack when it,s full . i did and was shocked to finf it weighed 22kgs thats about 45lbs to us older ones anyway have a great time and yes i,m jealous as hell

Everything I need is in it, and stuff I might not but then again MIGHT.
So it;s what I need. The weight matters NOT, I have to take it.
So I am NOT weighing it.
Watch out knees.....
