Re: Has it gone?

No.
Although it does depend where you are...
North of Pitlochry the snowline was around the 500m mark. The Cairngorms still have a good covering. A friend was munroing around Fort William area last week and said the driest conditions ever. Outwith Challenge area, Ben Wyvis snow covered, but there have been wildfires all up the west coast, around 200 have been dealt with in the last month or so.
Who knows!!

is a lot less white than past week :)

Re: Has it gone?

We can only hope but my mate TerryBND was driven from the tops a few days back in a whiteout and bailed as avalanche risk was high in the Cairngorms. He is saying there is a thaw around 800m and below. Deep snow 900m and above. Still time and we might be ok.

Click on this website for quite a few useful Scottish webcams:

Re: Has it gone?

I must admit my post was a bit TIC.

I have used the ski webcams for an idea of snow levels etc, but, I hadn't come across the Scottish Mountain Webcams site: thanks Alan.

At this time of year things can change very rapidly, so fingers crossed.

Of course, I was in a 2 hour whiteout on Ben Macdui - in June 2009!!
