Knoydart ferry changes

Just noticed that the contract for the Knoydart ferry will change from 1st April (this was flagged up a while ago)

http://www.highland.gov.uk/yourcouncil/news/newsreleases/2013/March/2013-03-14-04.htm

Not sure what the implications of this are for us Mallaig starters. Timetable is here:

http://www.knoydartferry.com/timetable/#summer-2013

although this could be before the new contract was awarded.

Re: Knoydart ferry changes

Its interesting that the article says that they'll use up to four boats at peak times with six sailings per day on weekdays in summer. (Does this mean 24 boat/sailings?)

Re: Knoydart ferry changes

Just been speaking to Bruce Watt Cruises and they confirm that things are completely as normal for them, ie 1015 hours first sailing on Friday 11th- IF we can get across to Mallaig that is- the snow still failing this morning in Oyne, Aberdeenshire for the nth continuous day. However absolutely not a drop of snow in the Mallaig area they tell me.

Re: Knoydart ferry changes

Let me reinforce what Colin's just posted, as I've also been in contact with Bruce.

He'll sail as normal and of course has great capacity on his boat Western Isles.

Western Isles will be sailing to Knoydart as per usual,
Departing Mallaig 10.15am & 2.15pm

Bruce has supported the Challenge for many, many years and sailing to Inverie on the Western Isles has been a highlight of several of my own crossings.
