Balmoral Estate

Our intended route takes us from Braemar to Ballater passing by but not visiting Balmoral Castle.

However just recently somebody mentioned that there is a £10 charge to transit through the estate.

A quick check of the Balmoral website seems to indicate that the charge is for visiting the castle although it is not entirely clear.

Anybody have any definitive information.

Thanks

Re: Balmoral Estate

There can be, I think, a charge to enter the area around the castle but this is easily by-passed by turning right at the gates (NO245939) and walking to Easter Balmoral on the track. The gates are not always personed (that's me being PC for once) so you can sometimes just walk through without charge.

Re: Balmoral Estate

Thank you

Obviously a person sweet by nature if not by name

Re: Balmoral Estate

Last May I walked through the estate.

I found some nice little pile that did me scones with cream and jam, well I was on holiday. The little woman who served me was very nice, too.

So, there shouldn't be a problem.

I wonder if you remember me?
