Re: Ferry from Mallaig

Well it's all kicking off on the ferry front. Bruce Watt, who has run the service for 45 years and whose current boat can take 81 passengers looks likely to lose the contract to Sandaig Ltd, whose boat can carry 12. Highland Council, numpties personified, will only say that the contract has not yet been awarded. What this means for Challengers going to Inverie is not yet clear.

As an example of concern for remote communities the Highlands and islands Fire Service is planning to disband the local volunteer groups on Knoydart and Eigg, saying that the Mallaig team can reach Knoydart in 50 minutes. I've been in Knoydart when local people died in a house fire. The community is not just Inverie.

Re: Ferry from Mallaig

Well, that pretty much sums up councils.
Budget driven, not welfare driven.
National epidemic.

Oops, drifted off topic.
