The Unmentionable Mountains - first-time Challengers

Simply to remark that to directly name a certain massif - the M*n*dlia*h - is entirely taboo within the Challenge Community. Think of this, in a theatrical context, as similar to The Scottish Play.

Call it superstition, or call it what you may, but the simple fact is that calling this name directly invokes
A Certain Wrath.

The origins may be buried deep within arcane Challenge Lore, but I would urge all first-time Challengers (and we love and desire you, yum! yum!) to respect this protocol. Peace and love, brothers and sisters.

And, bien sὺr, those charming werewolves who continue to infest the Upper Dulnain . . .

Re: The Unmentionable Mountains - first-time Challengers

Well said Humphrey. Nobody wants to have the Retribution of the Meanielomaths visited upon them. I once asked for directions to the Mnlths in Fort Augustus and everybody went into their houses and closed the curtains to the sound of doors being locked and babies and dogs being hurried under the stairs. As I left, several tumbleweeds were seen to roll in from those Moanylimpets hills and another wind turbine appeared on the horizon. It were 'orrible so it was.

Re: The Unmentionable Mountains - first-time Challengers

Eh bien, mes amis - but there are those us who have witnessed The Spectral Pie in all its Horrid Splendour and lived to tell the tale. Although, alas, Unutterably Changed.

Re: The Unmentionable Mountains - first-time Challengers

Indeed sir,

Once several years ago, I misguidedly mentioned that very massif in a message post.
The horror sir of the response.

The terrible repercussions of my mentioning of the
Monamacbethians.

Even now I shudder when looking back at the innocence and naivety that made me pose such a question.

Even after all this I went ahead though.
And back in those days there were no rows of Wind Turbines to show me the way.

But that was then and now is................

Well NOW.
