Re: Kyle of Durness

Definitely NO bridge Pete!

There is however a 'simple' ferry across the Kyle and a mini-bus that drives along what was described to me personally as 'the worst maintained road in mainland Britain' to or from Cape Wrath.

If you make it that far, say 'Hi!' to John at the Cafe at the Cape for Sue & I!!!

Re: Kyle of Durness

See if you can find a copy of "The Adventure Show" featuring a marathon run to the Cape and back, probably the only marathon where you have to wait for a ferry to complete the course!

Re: Kyle of Durness

The wee ferry is a delight, though it does get cancelled due to weather or local funerals. Get there soon, Pete. The MOD wants to buy up the land to continue throwing High Explosive at the pristine wilderness, with major implications for access. The Durness community are rightly up in arms.

Re: Kyle of Durness

Alternatively if Ferry is not running you can walk in from south & make use of wonderful bothies at Strathan & Strathcaellich (probably spelt wrong)to get to & from the Cape - both bothies well supplied with peat.
