Coupar Angus - dismantled railway

Does anyone know if the dismantled railway running past Coupar Angus is walkable, please?

Ideally I'd join the railway at Stanley and walk all the way to Newtyle, but information about any sections would be welcome. Thanks

Re: Coupar Angus - dismantled railway

Hi Judith,

Various sections of the old railway are walkable, certainly those around Newtyle. If you contact Angus Council they can provide you with more details. I did have some leaflets that they and the Newtyle Village Community issued but at the moment can't lay my hands on them.

Hope this helps.

Alan

Re: Coupar Angus - dismantled railway

Thanks for the tip, Alan. I've now found details of the Angus Core Paths Plan, including maps, on the Angus Council website. It doesn't clarify exactly how much of the old railway is walkable, but it does give information about other paths that may be useful for my route.
