Re: Crossing River Beauly

Yip yip.You can cross there no prob.

But . . . if you're coming there from the west you might want to consider moving a tad east and making camp at the Lovat Bridge campsite - NH 521 451. Well, it all depends on your plans for your next day. Moving down from Loch Balloch to Fish Pass could be problematic - you might want to look at a direct move east to pick up the LRT W of Torr Breac and then thread your way eastwards. I have family in these parts,so don't mind me for gratuitous advice! No harm intended, and no critique whatsoever of your route . . .

Re: Crossing River Beauly

Thanks, Humphrey,

as a first timer all advice gratefully received!

I am, in fact, aiming for the Lovat Bridge campsite.

I am having great fun plotting my route as I get to walk through a few areas where my ancestors came from (my other hobby is tracing my family tree!). It makes my route even more interesting although a little meandering in places!

Re: Crossing River Beauly

I'll be at Lovel Bridge Sue...maybe we could have a Lovel little brew together.....er dont worry I'm a ballet dancing hairdresser. lol
eh ....stop makin yer own Jokes up tha nose.
I'll be going to Inverness the next day by road...only 4 miles or so

Re: Crossing River Beauly

Thanks, Lilo (or is it Lil ?!!)

I'm sure a brew would be manageable, I'll be the one arriving at the campsite on my knees having seriously underestimated my fitness levels (or overestimated).
Then on to Inverness the next day also but a small detour first for family history reasons and then a somewhat longer route than the road.

See you there
Sue

Re: Crossing River Beauly

Hi Sue,

as an alternatif to Humphrey's suggestion.

Follow the track past Loch Ballach to appr. NH 445 468. Leave the track in SE direction and cross over dry heather to pick up a small path that will bring you to the Farley track and along the field system and hut circles. Follow this track to Farley. Avoid the path marked on the map from the first shed down over a field. It will bring you to a high locked gate. Instead stay on the track, muddy in places, to Farley. From there make your way over very quite lanes to Balblar and Lovat bridge.

Regards

Rolf
