I have spent some time trying to solve the problem of travelling up from S.Yorks to Torridon enabling arrival in good time before last orders at the Torridon Inn Pub. As a result,I have contacted a taxi firm in Inverness who have an 8 seater minibus and would pick up at the train station in Inverness and drop off at Torridon Y.H for £120, which works out at £15pp. I already have 5 other Challengers interested in this, which means there are two spare places. If anyone is interested in joining us, email me direct and I will act as transport manager. We would be aiming to leave Inverness at about 2pm on Thursday 9th....now for the route planning.

Further to Torridon transport issues, SYHA Torridon manager Mat has been in touch to update/correct Torridon travel info on the Event Details:

There are no buses from Achnasheen to Torridon anymore, but there is a daily service (m-s) from Strathcarron. The bus meets the early afternoon train from Inverness.

On page 3, I stated that Torridon could be reached via Westerbus from Inverness, changing in Kinlochewe. However Mat points out that there is no connection with the Westerbus service so you might find yourself stranded in Kinlochewe, 10 miles from the start point in Torridon.

I'll try to get the most up-to-date details in the newsletter, which will be circulated in January/February.

Getting to your start point is part of your Challenge, and in the case of Torridon it's well-worth the effort!
