Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

I too use grough route and, although it often says it has lost contact with the server, it usually gets there in the end.

Incidentally Bing maps will show OS 1:25K maps (and 1:50k) and, especially in full screen mode (F11) will show a pretty large area.

Colin.

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

cheers for the link

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

Not free, but not expensive either: Grough Route - http://www.grough.co.uk/route/

I used it on my 2010 challenge and will use it again if I get in the draw.

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

This hi-tech planning is good for some - but for me I will be using
http://www.scotlandwhisky.com/distilleries/speyside/ for the last week.

If I make the draw that is. Any suggestions on the best one that will allow camping in the grounds!!!

William

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

The best one is Highland Park it's a bit outside the Challenge area; but worth the diversion.

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

Kirkwall is a tad more than "a bit outside" Pete, you will have to get your feet wet for that visit!

Re: WEBSITE FOR ROUTE PLANNING

No, no Norman; I am allowed a boat to cross water unlike some who are rumoured to walk on it!
