Re: Cheap rail fares! How did I miss this?

You can also buy a 3yr senior person's railcard for £65 saving £19 on price for three yearly cards, if you think you will live that long!

Re: Cheap rail fares! How did I miss this?

If you don't then you won't be worried about the difference.

It's Catch 22 Gordon.
As you get older, you don't spot things like that.

Gordon,

And of course when you arrive at the border at Carlisle or Berwick upon Tweed, but depending when you are travelling, you could then pick up an over-60s Scotrail Club 55 promotional, presently £19 return, cattle class -

Re: Cheap rail fares! How did I miss this?

I am most offended that I've been mistaken for being 63 - I've got nearly 6 weeks to go! Those weeks become impotent at my advanced age. It's also important.

I did see the £65 three year deal, but I'd feel somewhat disappointed if I didn't get full value - just think of the pain I'd have to go through to get a refund.

It's a right Joseph Heller getting old - what a drag it is getting old.

I bought a book on how to remember things better - but, I put it down and forgot where I put it.

Re: Cheap rail fares! How did I miss this?

And the 55+ is also discounted with a rail card.
On the downside it's pot luck if the 55+ is running during the challenge.

Re: Cheap rail fares! How did I miss this?

I went to Carlisle once, but it was closed.

Now that I'm past it, I pefer to go past it - without having to work out how to link in the timetables. I did do it once - but getting the times back from Glasgow - Carlisle - Tamworth was none too easy.

I prefer the simple life - more than one timetable has me calling in Sister Ray.
