Glen Doe reservoir now refilling

It seems as though they have fixed the collapsed tunnel in the Glen Doe Hydro scheme, so perhaps normal access up Glen Doe will be possible next May.

Re: Glen Doe reservoir now refilling

Well spotted Al, great news.

It tickled me when I read "SSE said the speed at which the reservoir filled depended on adequate rainfall in its catchment area."

Adequate rainfall? I somehow don't see that being a problem!

Re: Glen Doe reservoir now refilling

THIS ARTICLE in today's Scotsman says that Glendoe is now generating power once more, as they have fixed the rockfall in the tunnel.
So - Access up Glendoe in 2013 should be fine.

Re: Glen Doe reservoir now refilling

All that, and now SSE have applied to build a huge Windfarm near Stronelairg.

I quote.....

SSE Renewables Developments wants to erect 83 turbines at Stronelairg, next to the Glendoe hydroelectric scheme 11km south-east of Fort Augustus.

At this rate they may as well concrete over the whole of the Monadhliath.
