Re: Challenge pictures and a shiny new website

In photography it is used to suggest that blurred, out of focus shots are somehow artistic.

Almost correct John. Part of the picture has to be sharp and the rest of it out of focus for it to be considered artistic. The bokeh referring to the out of focus bit.

Re: Challenge pictures and a shiny new website

Hmmm-sounds like a conflation of focus-hocus-pocus and baloney!

Re: Challenge pictures and a shiny new website

Yes sort of. Boke is a Japanese term meaning blur or fuzzy. The term is also used in the sense of mental haze or senility, which I guess could cause a degree of conflation.

Re: Challenge pictures and a shiny new website

Hi Ian,
Your skill with the camera is self evident and I thoroughly enjoyed the pics.
I especially liked the Callater Burn Flows and the "Fuji" colours in the pics of the flowers. They gave me a good flavour of the potential of the X Pro 1, which I have been thinking about buying.
I haven't been into your emporium for a good wee while. I bought a Pentax LX in the Quiggs days, so I must pop in to get some words of wisdom on the next camera.

I'm glad you like the pictures. I used a Fuji X-Pro1 with 3 lenses. If you are interested Andy Howell asked me to do a review of it for his blog. It should be published tomorrow at http://www.andyhowell.info/trek-blog/

Thanks, will check the blog
