Thanks all for the info - but what about Eskadale? What is the issue there? Looks like a really simple route and that's what I fancy.

If push comes to shove, a 4-mile road detour would be do-able if undesirable. However, if someone confirms that there is ABSOLUTELY no access through, then Mauld would be the best option.

I couldn't care less about climbing fences - no problem with that at all.

Alan, I like cats and they like me. Cute little furry things. Besides, I have done some research and the max life expectancy is approx 20 years for Mountain Lion, 13 years for a Panther. In 1998 your cat would have been 3 years old if mature - the SIZE of the prints would confirm. So by now I reckon 18 years old. If it was a panther, it is dead, if a mountain lion it is knackered.

In short, I reckon I could deck it!
