A busy Autumn 2010...

Airecentre Pacers have had a busy autumn with many members being involved in competitive races. Tony Pfeiffer had a good run at the Guy Fawkes 10 with a year’s best time of 83.28, just beating Angela Crawford, who had a time of 84.35. Rhona Neilson completed the team with a time of 97.17.

The Pacers are again taking part in the Peco series of cross country races. The first race took place at Pontefract in excellent conditions on 7 November with an excellent turnout. Will Morris came in first for the Pacers with a very commendable 21st position followed by Jason Nicholson(72),Paul Grindley(82), John Buddle(87), Andy Ackroyd (113),Tony Pfeiffer(114), Andrew Smith(117), Matt Tuppling(118), who did particularly well bearing in mind that he started 8 minutes late, Richard Archer(123), Tony Rivers(147) and Gary Stead returning after absence due to illness (160). Newcomber Jackie Ackroyd led the ladies in in 48th Position followed by Ann Trusson(56) ,Lynne Morris ( over 60s winner from 2009/10)(59), Rhona Neilson(78), Sue Milnes(79), Julie Stead(98),and Linda Barham(103).

The Pacers AGM took place on Friday 12 November. The retiring chairman Steve Horne in his report said that the club was thriving and had a successful year. The entries for the Chevin Chase were almost full. Paul Grindley was unanimously chosen to replace Steve Horne, who was thanked for his services to the club both as Race Director and Chairman. Following the AGM there was the annual prize giving. Amongst the prizes Jason Nicholson won the men’sprize for the most promising new runner and Chris Garnett won the men’s prize for the most improved runner. Amanda Hall won the ladies prize for the most promising new runner and Jenny Beaumont won the ladies prize for the most improved runner.
