Airecentre Pacers Report Week ending 15 January 2012
There was a full turnout from Airecentre Pacers at the third of the Peco Cross Country races at Temple Newsham on Sunday 15 January. Following a heavy frost the course was hard under foot and included some challenging climbs.
For the men’s team Will Morris had another good performance coming 28th. Paul Grindley and Gavin Watmuff followed up good efforts in early races to come 80th and 163rd respectively. Chris Hill back in the squad this year after missing most of last year through injury was back on form in 191st position. Chris Garnett (203rd), Richard Archer (220th), Tony Rivers (233rd) and Gary Stead (243rd) completed the team. John Tate, who was running well in the early stages of the race, was unable to finish owing to a bad calf injury after about four miles.
The ladies’ team had an excellent day with the return of Stephanie Houghton (second claim), who came in third. In a large field Jenny Beaumont (42nd) and Angela Crawford (62nd) had good runs and Lynne Morris continued to show dominance of her age group by finishing in 89th position and was followed closely by Rhona Neilson (93rd). Julie Stead finished enthusiastically in 139th position followed by Linda Braham determinedly in 153rd position.
