Airecentre Pacers Report Week ending 19 December 2011
A number of runners from Airecentre Pacers took part in the second race in the Peco Cross Country series in the Middleton Woods in South Leeds on Sunday 18th December.
In crisp and wintry conditions Will Morris had another good performance and came in first for the men’s team in 30th position. Paul Grindley (71st) and Richard Clarke (second claim) (104th) both had good runs. There was then a group of Pacers all close together led by Gavin Watmough (163rd) and followed by Andy Ackroyd (second claim) (169th), Rob Grafton (172nd) and Chris Hill(179th). The men’s team was completed by Richard Archer (202nd), Tony Rivers (217th) and Gary Stead (228th).
Following a successful performance in the first race of the series, in which the ladies came second in their division, they were missing Stephanie Houghton. However another fine performance was provided by Jenny Beaumont (24th). Angela Crawford (56th) came just ahead of Jackie Ackroyd (second claim) (59th). Lynne Morris (74th) had an excellent run giving her good hopes of winning her age category again this year. Next came Rhona Neilson in 83rd position with Julie Stead (122nd) dressed festively as Father Christmas and Linda Braham (126th) completing the ladies’ team.
