Airecentre Pacers Report Week ending 28 November 2011
Airecentre Centre Pacers had a good turnout on Sunday 27th November for the first in the Peco cross country series organised by Ackworth Road Runners assisted by Rothwell Harriers and run over an undulating course in windy conditions at Fitzwilliam Country Park. For the men’s team Will Morris, following his good performance in this series last winter, came 32nd in a large field followed by Paul Grindley (87th) and Richard Clarke (second claim) (97th). Andy Ackroyd (second claim) came 143rd followed by new member Gavin Watmuff (145th). Rob Grafton (165th) won a close battle with Chris Hill (166th). Chris Garnett (183rd), Richard Archer (190th), Tony Rivers (211th) and Gary Stead (212th) completed the men’s team. Stephanie Houghton (second claim) running for the first time for the Pacers in this series had an excellent run coming fifth. Jenny Beaumont, continuing her good form, came 29th followed by Angela Crawford (47th) and Jackie Ackroyd (second claim) (53rd). Rhona Neilson (82nd) just beat Lynne Morris (83rd). Julie Stead (116th) and Linda Braham (139th) completed the lady’s team.
On Saturday 26th November Paul Grindley came 21st clocking a time of 32.34 in the Ilkley 5 mile charity run for Sue Ryder.
On Saturday 12 November several runners from Airecentre Pacers took part in the Burley Moor Fell Race. Jenny Beaumont came 71st out of about 200 runners in a time of 63.20 followed by Rob Grafton in 66.27 (94th), Jackie Ackroyd (2nd claim ) in 71.56 (124th), Ruth Murphy in 80.56 (161st), Julie Stead in 85.47 (85.47) and Carole Keighley in 90.48 (176th).
