accident

I found this site while looking for info about the accident mentioned here. I was assigned to the 205th down the road. When news came of the accident I went up.
I arrived just after initial clearing of the casualties. It was very sad. The aircraft was sliced almost in half. The aircraft had experienced a major structural failure at the field splice. The aft rotor and aft vertical shaft as well as the aft pylon separated from the cabin. The aft rotor blades tilted down and forward cutting the aircraft just above the entrance in front of the heater closet and out the other side. The front of the aircraft remained attached and settled onto the ground. The pilot and co-pilot just opened the doors and stepped out onto the ground. The aft rotor and other components were for the most part intact 50 or so yards at around the 7 o'clock position. I took pictures and will post them when they are found. I have often wondered who had been killed. Now after all these years...vjfw
