Re: Town green

Just been to see for myself, Frank. Willow fencing, benches, sculptures etc all gone... I assume this was an act of vandalism and that some sort of clean-up/attempt at restoration is underway as the areas that were previously planted with willow have been seeded and a skip is standing by. Nothing about it in the local media of course.

It's depressing to think that we've somehow made a society where certain individuals evidently feel so hard done by and impotent that they seek pleasure in attempting to make the rest of us feel as bad as they do.

Re: Town green

Try no funds to maintain it as it was Wigan Council who have removed everything and as i say how long before its sold for housing?

Re: Town green

Stunned that the "vandals" were actually Wigan MBC officials! I thought the maintenance was all undertaken by volunteers...

Re: Town green

It was have a look --Here-- it was one of the nicest community gardens you would find in the country, I've other photo's that I may send to the council in the future if the garden goes down hill or neglect by then,

I just hope they put everything back in place like it was before

Re: Town green

The garden has been dismantled because of persistent vandalism. The volunteers couldn't take any more of the plants being ripped up etc. There were only 4 of them or there abouts and it was hard enough without the extra tasks.
