Re: My walk today

Is that the "White House" on Sandy lane?

Re: My walk today

I'm sure you're right Ian. This is my photo of the same spot, taken last summer. (But I think I was wrong to post the Dr Kuerden quote alongside - I now realise that his "sandy lane" must have been Lodge Lane, where the much grander house belonging to the Legh family and later used as a lunatic asylum once stood.)

Love the youtube video Dougie.

Re: My walk today

I started making slideshow like this of my walks round Ashton in 2005/6 long before you could get Google Streets up on the computer. as I was at that time thinking of recording the changes that would be taking place in the future,

Like these two photo's Before and After

And this one both old buildings never to be seen again and lost in time

By the way it you wish to zoom in to any photo uploaded on here press

Clarkey

I just followed your link to the site with all the photographs titled Makerfield Rambler. There are some great photos on there - many places I haven't seen before.

I liked the ones you have put on of the stuff we have put in Skitters too, like the mosaic, benches & log carvings.

Are these rambles group led ?

Re: My walk today

Oh, thanks Karin! No, they're not group rambles - just me striking out on my own in any direction that looks interesting although I have also taken ideas from 'healthy walking' websites, Wigan/St Helens Council leaflets and the 'Jack's Tracks'feature in Local Life magazine.

I'm taking a break just now but will be adding more photos and text in due course.
